We are thrilled to announce a newly formed strategic synergy between the ACT-AI Academy and the AIPowerED project, two Teacher’s Academy Erasmus+ projects dedicated to fostering ethical, inclusive, and impactful AI integration in education. This collaboration marks an important step toward uniting efforts across different educational sectors, from school teaching professionals to higher education institutions, to build shared expertise and practical frameworks that support AI literacy, competence development, and responsible adoption.
Shared Mission:
Empowering Educators Across Contexts ACT-AI Academy aims to create a European Academy for Teachers’ Skills and Competences for Effective AI Integration in Education. Running from April 2025 to March 2028, the project focuses on equipping student-teachers, in-service teachers, and school leaders with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to effectively and ethically use AI technologies in educational settings. Through evidence-based training modules, a digital learning platform, networking events, and policy-oriented dissemination, ACT-AI strives to strengthen transnational cooperation and educational innovation across Europe. AIPowerED, on the other hand, extends its mission into higher education. Building on the legacy of previous Erasmus+ work such as the LearnML project, AI-PowerED develops an empirically validated AI integration toolbox, frameworks, guidelines, and AI-enhanced tools designed to empower universities, faculty members, and students. The focus is on strengthening AI literacy, supporting curriculum innovation, and ensuring ethical and inclusive adoption of AI technologies in higher education.
The synergy’s effects: ACT-AI Academy and AIPowerED, through their mutual collaboration, create a seamless continuum of AI capacity building from schools to universities: • Bridging education levels: The alliance supports both school-level educators and higher education practitioners, ensuring that AI literacy and competence development are coherent across the entire educational landscape. • Amplifying impact: Sharing insights, training frameworks, and tools enhances the reach and effectiveness of both projects, promoting common standards for ethical and responsible AI use. • Expanding networks: The collaboration invites broader engagement with policy makers, institutional leaders, researchers, and practitioners, fostering a robust community of practice in AI education. • Pioneering good practice: Joint efforts will help shape evidence-based resources and recommendations that influence both national and European educational strategies for AI integration. What’s Next? Both projects will continue their respective activities, with cross-project exchanges of knowledge and resources, co-designed workshops, and opportunities for engagement across institutions and countries. Stakeholders from both school and higher education sectors can look forward to a series of shared events, publications, and tools that will support AI competency development in meaningful and inclusive ways.
