Insights gathered from national stakeholder consultation groups have played a pivotal role in shaping the ACT-AI Academy project’s foundational outputs. Engaging with teachers, policymakers, education bodies, and other key partners across Europe provided the project team with a rich picture of current practices and expectations for AI in education.
Common Themes Across Countries
Despite differences in national context, several common themes emerged consistently across the consultations:
- A strong appetite among educators for clear, practical guidance on safe and effective AI use in classrooms.
- The need for school-level and system-level governance to support responsible implementation.
- A desire for professional development that focuses on real practice, examples, and modelling of AI-enhanced teaching.
- Recognition that equitable access to technology and training is essential to avoid widening learning gaps.
- A collective emphasis on ethics, academic integrity, and maintaining the human-centred nature of teaching.
Informing Key Project Components
These consolidated findings directly informed the development of two key project components: the AI Tool Evaluation Rubric and the ACT-AI Conceptual Framework for AI Integration in Teaching and Learning. By grounding these outputs in the real experiences and priorities of teachers and policymakers across Europe, the ACT-AI Academy project ensures its tools and frameworks remain practical, relevant, and responsive to the needs of the education community.
