The ACT-AI Academy project is currently developing its Conceptual Framework for AI integration in teaching and learning — a key milestone that will underpin the design of the Academy’s professional development modules. Emerging insights from the project’s literature review and stakeholder consultations suggest that successful AI implementation closely aligns with the principles of academic integrity. Eight core principles have been identified as central to this alignment:
- Ethical awareness and clear expectations
- A holistic approach to implementation
- Recognition of the relational nature of teaching and learning
- A pedagogy-first mindset
- Alignment between teaching, learning, and assessment
- Practice-focused professional development
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion
- A proactive approach to change
These principles will form the foundation for the design of ACT-AI Academy’s professional development interventions, ensuring that AI integration is approached responsibly and with pedagogy at its core.
What’s Next?
Work is currently underway to translate these principles into a practical framework of skills and behaviours that will guide the Academy’s training modules. This phase of work is expected to be completed by June 2026.
